Nha Trang, Vietnam
During the Vietnam War, Nha Trang was a popular recreation spot for U.S. servicemen. Today, it is one of the country's most popular seaside destinations. Its four miles of white-sand beaches lined with gently swaying coconut palms and turquoise waters makes this up-and-coming resort area a popular seaside destination.
Colorfully painted fishing boats line the harbors of the small villages, and the surrounding countryside is a gently rolling landscape of little towns nestled in green valleys. Tour the city from the great Cham Tower to the Buddhist shrine at Long Son Pagoda. Or journey into the countryside to see the small villages, fields of rice paddies and bamboo groves.
Ponagar Cham Tower
Overlooking the Cao River estuary, this ancient tower features a sculpture of the goddess of agriculture. The view from the tower provides superb views of the river and the bay.
Long Son Pagoda
An enormous white Buddha sits on the hill behind the pagoda. Built in 1965, it commemorates the Buddhist monks who protested the abuses of the Diem regime in the early 1960s by setting themselves on fire.
Cau da Port and Village
The city's tourist district features colonial-era beachfront hotels and sidewalk cafés. Do some souvenir shopping and enjoy the view of Bao Dai Villa, the summer home of Vietnam's last monarch.
